A Legacy of Faith and Education

St. Anthony’s School, Sirsi, has its roots in the vision, faith, and dedication of the local Christian community. In 1966, Rev. Fr. Rudolph Miranda, the Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Church, proposed the establishment of an English Medium School. The parishioners wholeheartedly supported his vision, and despite initial challenges, efforts to establish the school began with the blessings of the Bishop of Belgaum. With the committed support of prominent members of the community, including Late Mr. Martin Rodrigues, Late Mr. M.P. Machado, Mr. S.P. Machado, Late Mr. Joseph Miranda, Mr. C.S. Costa, Late Mr. Edward Fernandez, Late Mr. R.A. D’Souza, Late Mr. M.S. Fernandez, Late Mr. S.S. Regello, and Late Mr. Raya Fernandez, St. Anthony’s Education Society was formed. On 13 June 1967, the school began its journey in the veranda of St. Anthony’s Church. Following the formation of the Karwar Diocese, the school came under the Karwar Diocese Education Society. Over the years, several dedicated parish priests have served as correspondents, carrying forward the institution’s mission of providing quality education. The school’s journey stands as a testament to faith, community spirit, perseverance, and a shared commitment to education.
